Minerals play an absolutely essential role in the functioning of the human body. They act as co-factors to the enzymes of our bodies. Enzymes carry out virtually every bio-chemical reaction. Without enzymes even the most basic of biological tasks could not be accomplished; we would be unable to digest food, we would be unable to create energy, we would we be unable to fight disease. In short, life would end if we where to be devoid of enzymes.

Minerals, acting as co-factors, play an integral and indispensable role in assisting enzymes in carrying out their responsibilities. Actually the enzyme acts as a catalyst to the chemical reaction; in that without the proper enzyme function the chemical reaction in question would still take place but it may take place over the course of hundreds of years. The human body, of course, does not have hundreds of years to wait for one chemical reaction to occur.

Many people in today’s society suffer from poor enzymatic function. This can result in many ailments from general weakness and fatigue to serious and debilitating diseases. However, the reason that their enzymes are working so poorly is not necessarily due to a lack of enzymes; on the contrary many people experience this because they lack proper nutrition. In particular they lack vitamins and minerals, especially minerals.
